Linda began sewing as an elementary school student. She would often finish projects her mother had started. As she grew up, she took as many sewing classes as she had opportunity to in school. She realized that sewing was her creative niche and decided to do it for a living. Linda attended University of Wisconsin-Stout and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Clothing and Design in 1979. Her first wedding dress she created was her own! She met her husband Paul in college and together they formed Forget-Me-Not Heirlooms, as the business expression of Linda's creativity. Over the last 30+ years, Linda has worked independently as a seamstress; as a costume seamstress at the Guthrie Theatre, Hey City Theater, Chanhassen Dinner Theaters, The Children's Theater, and the Minnesota Opera; and in conjunction, as an alterations specialist with several bridal shops in the Twin Cities area including: Bridal Aisle, Brides of France, The Wedding Shoppe, Heartstrings Bridal, Rush's Bridal and Napier Bridal.
Linda is a fit expert for custom gowns and bridal/formal alterations. She also specializes in custom veils, restyling vintage wedding gowns and creating heirloom items for the home from vintage or heirloom clothing and textiles. A unique facet of Linda's experience is her skill in patternmaking. She is capable of simply seeing a picture of a garment and building a pattern with the desired design elements.
An additional element to Linda's art as a seamstress and designer is her heart. She loves walking through the process of altering or creating the garment her customers have dreamt about. She feels honored to be a part of this stage in life and sees it as a way that she helps prepare the Bride for her Groom. Her prayer is that her work and business affects each Bride's journey toward her Wedding Day and Marriage.
Elin designed her wedding gown using satin, lace and trims. She chose beading for the lace areas of the dress as well as yellow crystal accents on her bodice.
